New York, NY, - January 18, 2008 - Drytek, the nation's leader in flooring solutions, today announced that it has received several awards along with Pyramid Floor Coverings for their work at The New York Times Building and The Institute for the Study of the Acient World.
McGraw Hill, the publisher of Construction Magazine, recently announced the overall winner of its Project of the Year, The New York Times Tower. The project's floor contractor was Pyramid Floor Coverings, Inc. which utilized Drytek 7200 self-leveling underlayment with leveling pegs at ¾" average on fifteen separate floors. An electronic leveling instrument was used to specifically identify the actual unevenness of the slab topography for each of the fifteen floors. Under difficult conditions and an aggressive schedule, Pyramid Floor Covering poured in excess of 300,000 sq. ft of Drytek to a ¾ to 1 inch average pour. The contract called for the correction of the uneven slab within strict tolerances. The use of leveling pegs facilitated pouring to the designated benchmark heights and satisfying the client needs.
The Best Interior Fit out also went to a project involving Pyramid Floors and Drytek,. The Institute for the Study of the Ancient World. This project was a complete renovation and restoration of a six story, 27,000 sq. ft. east side of Manhattan mansion. The predominant flooring material was wood. Drytek 9200 was used at the kitchenettes/ pantry areas on the various floors. The use of the state-of-the-art cementitious flooring surface nicely complemented the surrounding finishes. The Drytek version of this ancient building material worked well at a site that, among other disciplines, is devoted to the study of archeology and antiquities.
